Transcending cultural boundaries
The Nov 17th concert of the SACMS featured a rare and unique collaboration between the world’s premier pipa virtuoso, Ms. Wu Man, and noted Verona Quartet- Jonathan Ong and Dorothy Ro (violins), Abigail Rojansky (viola), and Jonathan Dormand (cello).
Spellbinding
As 3:15 approached on Sunday, October 13, the full house at Trinity Baptist Church was abuzz with anticipation. Over three hundred enthusiastic young singers from area college and high school choirs joined the SACMS audience as invited guests for the opening concert of our 82nd season featuring the much-beloved British vocal ensemble Voces8.
Viva Tango!
All I can say is ”Wow”! What a way to celebrate the final day of Fiesta 2024 — listening to a unique program of tango music by two tango giants, Lalo Schifrin and Astor Piazzola.
Making the Unfamiliar Understandable
Did someone say chamber music is passé? Boring? Old-fashioned? By Jupiter, they’re wrong! At their third appearance with the San Antonio Chamber Music Society, the Jupiter String Quartet presented a program entitled “Folk Encounters,” and the audience-folk received it warmly.
New Understandings

A Scrumptious Feast
Dreary damp November weather certainly did not dampen the mood inside Shepherd King Lutheran Church. The ample audience at the November 12 concert was treated to a brilliant all-Bach performance by flutist Brandon Patrick George and harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani.
Brandon and Mahan
Brandon Patrick George, Grammy-nominated flutist, member of Imani Winds, and faculty member at the Curtis Institute, is an important voice and a formidable force for good, leading discussions on how to create more inclusive communities in classical music.
