Kenneth Bloom
1943 – 2022
How fortunate we are! Musicians of San Antonio, musical organizations in San Antonio, many children who were born or developed life-ending heart abnormalities — how lucky we all are to have called Dr. Kenneth Bloom our dear friend and, often, rescuer.
Dr. Bloom was President of the Board of the San Antonio Chamber Music Society for four years and an energetic participant on the SACMS Board. He was also a generous benefactor and, along with his wife, Dr. Sheila Swartzman, provided support to SACMS, the Cactus Pear Festival, the SA Symphony and many other cultural and musical institutions in the city. They funded chairs for musicians and worked to keep classical music alive and well in San Antonio. They opened their home for very special concerts that also provided funds for the performance of classical music.

Dr. Bloom was born in South Africa and, to our incredible good fortune, anchored his pediatric cardiology practice here in San Antonio. He retired from his practice a few years ago, but never retired from music. His passing leaves us with the memory of his laugh, his energy and his love. We will miss him.
